The Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company is a full-service fire department. We respond to all calls involving fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, and other emergency events that serve an approximately 26 square mile area with a population of some 14,000 within and outside the Town of Cheswold in mutual aid response areas.
Fire and Rescue Operations are staffed entirely by volunteers, with EMS being provided by full and part-time paid Fire Company personnel 24/7.
By becoming a volunteer member of the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company, you’re joining a mission-driven organization that works with its members to achieve more in all aspects of life.
Three ways to find your place with us:
Members must be age 18 or older to participate in fire suppression, EMS, and technical rescue. These members staff our engines, tower ladder, rescue pumper, ambulances, and other special apparatus.
Administrative membership includes organizing and participating in public education, fundraising, building maintenance, hall rental, information technology, and more.
Junior Firefighter positions are open for individuals aged 15 – 17 with a desire to serve and learn more about firefighting and EMS.

Train & Respond – It is a constant building of our foundation, our investment in you, and your investment in others.
Find a Need & Serve – Not everyone can fight fires or work in a technical rescue situation. There are many ways to serve us and the community if you have experience in business administration, fund-raising, social media, and community networking.
